2) RACE NUMBER COLLECTION : There will be a registration desk inside the running track facility near to the start line open from 8:15am to collect your race numbers. Please note the centre (Basildon Sporting Village) does not open until 8am on April 1st. Please state your first name as numbers will be in name alphabetical order with the volunteers at the registration desk. There will be a limited number of safety pins on the day so please bring some to attach your number to your top.

RACE ROUTE FOR THE BASILDON 10KM ON 1ST APRIL 2024 AT 9AM

A lap of the track to start and then come out of the track and turn right and then right again into the park. You will follow the path past 1KM to the first water bridge and take the left side path over the water and follow the park path around. There is a little climb at this point no more than 30 metres long before the path levels out and continues. As you run straight along the path you will come to a junction where you will veer left and begin to run around a large pond on your left hand side. As you pass the pond you will head up as though heading out of the park before turning a sharp left and back along Clenshaw Path past the 2KM point. Following Clenshaw Path the large pond will again be on your left hand side and you will hug the perimeter of Gloucester Park and get to the corner (opposite the entrance gate at the end of Blake Avenue).
Turning left at this point you will head back to the river crossing and take the left sided bridge back over before turning left again for a long stretch along the main lake of the park. Towards the end of this stretch you will pass the 3KM mark and then turn left again to go around the head of the lake. You will then loop out around the children’s play area opposite the large pond and head back up to the head of the lake past the 4KM marker.
Staying on the path and heading left around the perimeter path of the park back towards the leisure centre. As you begin to see the leisure centre ahead of you it will be the first time you come off from the pavement and follow a grass track next to a hedgerow (around the Bowls Club). This will lead you to the back of the leisure centre and as you pass the 5KM marker there will be a water station near to the back of the athletics track stadium.
Around the back of the track and onto the start of the path which leads out of the river and heads right into the park. You will pass 6KM as you head towards the split T-junction at which point you will follow the path left again past the pond towards the end of Clenshaw Path where once more you turn back on yourself and follow the path around the perimeter of the park to the corner gate (opposite the entrance gate at the end of Blake Avenue).
As you turn left here you will go past 7KM heading back over river taking the left side bridge and turning left again along the long stretch of path parallel to the lake. Heading left around the head of the lake and back inwards you travel past 8KM. With the pond on your left you will head right back up past the children’s play area and then the path will lead you left to the far side of Gloucester park parallel with Upper Mayne road. Passing 9KM and heading to the top corner of the park before turning right to face towards the leisure centre. You will be directed right off the pavement and onto grass for the final time around the edge of the Bowls Club following the shrubs.
Back into the athletics stadium for just over three quarters of a lap to the finish !!!

10KM COMPLETED !!! Well done !!!
